While galvanised steel has a well-established lifespan of 30-60 years, perforating the steel compromises its protective coating by cutting through the galvanised layer and exposing the underlying metal. Since the steel must be galvanised before perforation, the exposed metal will begin to rust within 5 years, especially in high humidity and wet environments.
